The love for Burgundy led Dirk Niepoort to plant a hectare of Pinot Noir in the Douro Region. The vineyard was planted in 1999, facing north, on the top of Quinta de N\u00e1poles, with a mixture of clones from Burgundy and with a density of around 12 000 plants per hectare. The soil is schist, typical from this region and distinct from the region where the variety comes from and although the location is the freshest and highest of the property, it\u2019s a challenge, every harvest to produce the wine, as intended: a fresh and elegant wine, not heavy but with a long finish.
